FOCUSING in the FOREST
With Trisha Geraets & Kuniko Yamamoto Forest and Bird Lodge, Catlins, NZ 4 - 6 October 2024
“It’s easy to look at the contours of a forest and feel a bone deep love for nature. It’s less easy to remember that the contours of your own body represent the exact same nature.” J,K Anderson
This message emphasizes the deep connection between humans and the forest, highlighting it as our birthplace and ancestral home. We can see the forest as a doorway to the unknown, filled with mystery and intelligence, where a community of living beings exists that we can learn from and connect with. Similarly, our bodies also hold a wealth of wisdom and connection, akin to a forest.
Join Trisha and Kuniko for 2 days and 2 nights of exploring and listening to the wisdom present in both the natural world and within ourselves.

We are an integral part of the natural world, just like fantails and skinks, yet we've somehow lost this connection. We've become estranged from our home and the very sources that sustain us. We've forgotten our place within the greater web of life. This immersive retreat offers an opportunity to rediscover how to listen and engage with the natural world, learning to heed its wisdom. Through nature connection practices and the embodied practice of Focusing, all within a supportive community, we will reclaim our place in the larger family of all living things.
What the retreat will involve:
Forest Bathing and Nature connection activities
Learning the essentials of Focusing (and more)
Group discussion and exploration around the fire
Activities, games and walks immersed in nature
Opportunity for yoga and other activities
Private Focusing and Shiatsu sessions
Being in community
What you will go away with:
A deeper connection to the natural world, each other and self.
Skills and practices that support you in connecting to nature away from the retreat.
A renewed sense of what it means to belong in the natural world.
